Rohit Sharma Biography is an Indian cricketer and currently the vice-captain of the Indian ODI and T20 team. He also serves as the captain of the IPL team Mumbai Indians. He has several records under his name. Rohit Sharma has scored 3 double - centuries in ODIs, apart from centuries in T20 and Test formats. Due to his tough ability, he is also known as ' The Hitman'. He gained recognition from his early days. He debuted only at the age of 20 and was soon gaining praise for his mature and calm performance.
Early Life.
Rohit Sharma was born on 30 April 1987 in Bansod, Nagpur, Maharashtra. His mother Poornima Sharma hails from Visakhapatnam. His father Gurunath Sharma worked as a caretaker of a transport firm Storehouse. Sharma was raised by his grandparents and uncle in Borivali due to his father's low income. He would meet his parents, who lived in a one - room apartment in Dombivli only during weekends. He has an elder brother, Vishal Sharma. In 1999, Sharma joined a cricket camp with his uncle's money. His coach in the camp was Dinesh Lad who asked him to change his school to Swami Vivekananda International School, where Lad was the coach and which had better cricket facilities. Sharma recalled, “I told him I couldn't stand it, but he got me a scholarship. So for four years I didn't pay a single penny, and did well in my cricket. Sharma started out as an off-spinner who could bat. Lad noticed Sharma's batting abilities and promoted him by number eight to open the innings. He excelled in the Harris and Giles Shield School Cricket Tournament, scoring a century opening as an opener.
Rohit Sharma made his domestic cricket debut for West Zone in March 2005 in their Deodhar Trophy match against Central Zone in Gwalior. During the same tournament, he attracted attention for scoring an unbeaten 142 off 123 balls against North Zone in Udaipur.
He was selected for the NKP Salve Challenger Trophy and was on the 30-run list for the Champions Trophy even before his Ranji debut as possible, but failed to make it to the final squad. His first-class debut for India A was against New Zealand A at Darwin in July 2006, followed by his Ranji debut for Mumbai in the 2006–07 season, during which he scored a double century against Gujarat.
